Nov 3 & 4 2007 NASCAR Texas Motor Speedway (Craftsman Truck and Busch Races)

Well Ron got Truck and Busch tickets for the November races this year. The truck race was great. They look so cool on the track.

For the Busch race we also got GM/Chevy VIP tickets. With that we got fed lunch, got a black Chevy skullcap, Chevy seat cushion and one raffle ticket. We put all of stuff down to go get a burger (turkey for me) with the fixins. By the time we get back to our seats they announced they were drawing for 10 people for something about driver introductions. The ticket has a lot of numbers on it, and they called the entire number. I realized the last 3 numbers matched my ticket. I was freaking out. Talana said "run up there, they'll verify your number". Sure enough I won!!! I had to ask the guy what I won, still not quite understanding it, but knowing I had a drivers meeting at 1pm. I am thinking I'll be in the back of the truck with the driver. Yeehaw! A lady at our table offered me $20 for her to do this instead of me. Told her no way it's not for sale. $20 pa-leez….

At the drivers' meeting I found out I was going to drive the Chevy pickup around the track while a Busch driver was in the back. I started to panic. Me, I'm not the best driver. But in the drivers' meeting the lady said to only go 25 mph and follow the truck in front of you. I asked her if Ron could drive instead, she said nope I had already signed my life away basically, and they were getting ready to take us on the long walk to the trucks. Oh, Ron got to ride shotgun with me.You could take another person, which was good for my nerves. I was the ninth truck either from the top of the list or from the bottom. We didn't know how it all worked. And the people in charge there didn't know from which end the trucks would start pulling out to get on the track. It ended up being ninth from the bottom. #36 Jeremy Clements was in the back. After I drove him around the track then back to pit road when he jumped out he said thanks. A photographer was there taking pictures on the track. He sent a link of the pictures he took. I saw the two photos he took with Jeremy in the back. With his photo you can see me in the cab facing forward looking intense. Ron was looking behind him. What an adventure for a newbie like me!!! We were taking pictures from inside the truck while we waited in line to get our driver. And I called a friend of mine, Patti (#2 Kurt Busch), and my aunt, Denise (#8 Dale Jr), both NASCAR fans, to tell them what we were doing, but nobody home.
