Friday Jan 4 I got the paperwork. It all looked legit. I called my aunt, Denise(#88 Dale Jr), to tell her. We were both excited, laughing and yelling. Then I asked her to go with me. Then we laughed and yelled excitedly some more. Oh, she said yes! Then I called a few other people. I didn't want the word out to everyone I knew just yet. I called Patti's (#2 Kurt Busch) house, and left a vmail to call me. I had some news to share that was too exciting to wait until Monday. She called me a couple of hours later. Her husband, Steve (#44 Dale Jarrett), told her it was probably something NASCAR and laughingly said I probably won tix to Daytona 500 50th anniversary. She tell me this on the phone. I started laughing and said he was right!!!! We laughed and yelled excitedly. Lot of laughing and yelling to be had by all that evening....
So I spent Friday night filling out the forms. It also came with the official rules. It said they will make 3 attempts to call you. They do not leave voicemail. After the 3rd attempt, and they did not contact you, it's on the next person. I answered on the second attempt! I think of all the what ifs...What if I had been in a meeting and couldn't take the call, what if I had been walking on my break and didn't feel the weak vibrate this phone puts out, etc. You know things like that.
Saturday went to the bank for a notary. There was one form for Denise. So we got together on Sunday for her to sign and have witnessed. I faxed all the paperwork on Monday. Then Fed-Ex'd it back to them Monday after work.
Now it's the waiting game.
