Well I went to Sports Authority in Irving after work today to try and win some Nationwide or Cup tickets. This was all affiliated with 105.3FM morning show. None of the djs were there, of course. I signed up by putting my name and number on the form and into a box. They drew some names for the Auto Show tickets. I won a movie promo t-shirt.
The intern, Jimmy, started asking trivia questions. The first 3 people to get them right would do another contest to win some race tickets. One question was "Who drives the Aflac car?" LOL, it's my driver, Carl Edwards. So I got that one right. So me and two guys sat in folding chairs next to each other and facing all the other people. Jimmy started explaining what we would have to do to win tickets. I started laughing and shook my head no and got up. So he had to ask another trivia question. He asked the same Aflac question again! What they wanted us to do was act like we're driving a car on the track for couple of laps with noises and effects and all that. Not my cup of tea. I got up with my dignity in tact, LOL...Then Jimmy would put his hand above each guy's head. The one with the most claps from everyone else wins a set of tickets. Well as we were voting the sky opened up and it started pouring. You never saw so many of us trying fit under their little canopy. After it slowed up some we all made a mad dash to inside the store. Then we started the vote over again, and got a winner. The winner had performed his version of the remote control car commercial where Tony S throws his helmet at his car. This guy threw his sunglasses. It was hilarious. Then Jimmy had one set of Sunday tickets to give away, and it wasn't in the stars for me this time. I waded out to my car to head on home.
Oh, there was a guy that won Saturday suite tickets from the drawing, but he didn't want to go Saturday, said he had to work. So he hung around until all the Sunday tickets were won. He ended up trading a set of Saturday suite tickets for a set of Sunday regular tickets. He told me on my way out the door he kind of regretted it because he had suite tickets. I told him I would have kept the Saturday tickets; suites seats, less traffic plus like 16 of the Cup drivers will be in the Nationwide (aka Cup Lite) race on Saturday.
Luckily I got pictures of Dale Jr's #88 Show Car before the rain hit. I dedicate these to Denise and Ron...
