My Domicile Status

Well this month I have been in my apartment for 2 years. So it's time to renew or go month-to-month. Since I got divorced in 1994 I have moved about every 2.5 years. I don't plan it that way, it just happens that way. I don't mind the moving as such, it's exciting to unpack your belongings in a new place, but I am tired of packing. Of course I said that before, but when I decide to move, packing was not that big of a deal.

So I called the leasing office, and I can renew with a new lease for anywhere from 9-12 months. Rent went up $15 a month on my 2 bedroom/2bath. I had them draw up an 11 month lease. That way it will end Apr 31, 2009. If I want to move by then the weather is cooler than end of May. Have to sign the new lease by Jun 1, but I plan do to it a day or so before. I could go month-to-month, but it's about $100 more a month, and I have done that before back in 1999 before I moved to FL.

I have lived in three different complexes since 1997. Great location. One of the things I like about living here is the electricity is commercially rated. They have many complexes, 13-15, they buy it in bulk which is cheaper on us residents. Every month I get a postcard mailed to me that includes my electricity, gas, water, sewage, trash charges. Some they have to base on size of apartment and occupants while electricity has a meter.

I've lived in apartments off and on my whole life. Used to be "all bills included". Heck I remember when they could segregate apartments as "adult only" meaning if you had kids you could not live in those apartments. Then you had to pay electricity, then electricity and water, now all this other stuff.

Oh well renting does give me some freedom to move about the country...The longest I have ever lived in any one dwelling was when I was married. We lived in our house in Mesquite for 6 years. A record for me! I remember one time I mentioned to him "hey, how about we sell the house and then rent a house", guess the gypsy in me was calling. He looked at me like I was craaazy. I don't blame him, I think he had probably lived in 3 houses his whole life...
