Ever wondered what to get that hard-to-buy for Texan aka Texican? Well, have I got an idea for you. Step right this way...
You can request that a Texas flag be flown from the Texas State Capitol on any certain day.

Used to be they emailed you a form, you mailed it back with payment, they would fly the flag and then mail it to whom you said on the form. As of September 2 requests will be made on-line.
You have some different sizes to pick from as well as material. I usually order the smallest at 3ft by 5ft cotton flag. I choose cotton cuz back in the olden days "Cotton is King" in Tejas... and it will fade I'm sure if you really fly it at your home. I think Ron's started fading.

So on the day of the event I give the person a piece of paper telling them all about it and it's coming to them very soon in the mail as obviously it has to be flown first then mailed. For a nominal fee be sure to request a personalized certificate authenticating that the flag was flown over the Texas Capitol.

I think something similar can be done for the US flag, but I haven't done this. Possibly there's at least 6 week lead time. Here's one way to request a US flag. http://hutchison.senate.gov/flags.html
