Here's what came on the dinner plate:
Souvlakia and Rice (delicious marinated pork or chicken meat on a skewer)
Spanakopita (baked butter filo dough filled with chopped spinach, Greek Feta, cottage and parmesan chese, seasoned with onion and mint)
Tiropita (baked buttered filo dough filled with Greek feta cheese, eggs and seasonings)
Dolma (grape leaf stuffed with ground meat, rice, and seasonings)
Pastitsio (Greek style lasagna made with layers of macaroni noodles , seasoned ground meat and topped with bechamel sauce)
Greek Salad with Feta Cheese and Olives
Pita Bread
Then we toured the church which is a must...One of the priests (probably because he was only ordained in March therefore new guy on the block) gave us the tour.
The dancing was great to watch too.
I went to Greece and Turkey in 1997. I never bought myself an evil eye. I kept thinking I'll get one at the next place. Well guess what I didn't come home with one. Funny how that happens. Well I bought one at the festival Agora (marketplace) for $3... In Greece and Turkey these charms are believed to ward off "the evil eye". I really like dark blue glass, too. There's a picture of mine at the bottom of this entry. It's a little bit bigger than a quarter.
I'm not big on crosses but one of the vendors had these really pretty unusual crosses:
