Dvd In a Box

Netflix http://www.netflix.com/ use to be the way I rented dvds. Since joining the ranks of NASCAR Nation I watch so much NASCAR I cancelled my Netflix subscription. Don't even get me started on Blockbuster(BB), what a joke.

Talk about closing Mom and Pop shops, I think BB has done that more than Walmart. When Blockbuster started their snail mail rentals, like Netflix, they reported they lost money on late fees. My dad is right, no matter what time you take your movies back to BB there was always a late fee on at least one movie.
Get a load of this when I moved to Orlando, I got a postcard from Blockbuster telling me I had a late fee to pay on a rental in Dallas. I called the store, hello I"m in Orlando. That young punk answering the phone wanted to nicely argue with me that maybe I had a second card that someone was using. NO, I didn't. They removed the late fee. I cancelled that card, and opened an account in Orlando. So that burnt me on BB, but I didn't know about Netflix at the time. When I moved back to Dallas, and finally decided to go with Netflix in 2004 , I took my BB card into a store and had them cancel it. Wish you could have seen the look on the guy's face - like no one has ever come in to cancel their account before. BB, rot in hell! Ok, I am stepping down from my soap box now.

A couple of years ago Talana told me this machine, Red Box, at Walmarts where you can rent dvds http://www.redbox.com/home.aspx. There's also a poor cousin called Dvd Play http://www.dvdplay.com/. So of course which is located closer to me Red Box or Dvd Play? Dvd Play, but it seems Red Box is/has expanded since I last check.

Yesterday I reserved 2 dvds from Red Box on-line then went to that location and picked them up! Can you tell I like Red Box better? They have more box locations, more variety, you can reserve movies on-line, and you can return to any Red Box anywhere in the US. My local redbox.com rentals are $1.08 a dvd. Oh, they charge your credit card once (after you return) instead of charging you once a day like dvdplay.com.

Happy Escapism!
