Central Market http://www.centralmarket.com/ has had chocolate festivals in the past, I just never went. Silly me!
I went after work yesterday, but they didn't have much setup, darn it.
After spending lunch with a friend today, and we went to CM for dessert. There were a lot of sample stations setup and we hit them all. Tea is more my thing, but I did hit the chocolate flavored coffee station twice mainly to wash all this glorious chocolate down. One favorite stop was a bite-size piece of pound cake with hot chocolate sauce poured over it. So good we had to visit it twice. Another sample was a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream smothered with this fabulous dark chocolate sauce http://somebodysmothers.com/ poured over it. Lynn Lasher, owner of Somebody's Mother's, along with a helper was serving. A big bite of banana covered in dark chocolate, got me some fruit in today. The cherry chocolate bread was heavenly. There were some shortbread type cookies dipped in dark or milk chocolate. Almost bought a box of the dark chocolate, but was afraid I would eat them all this weekend. Moderation, don't think I have that gene.
Central Market is pretty good on having samples during the weekend anyway. Orange slices, Ruby Red grapefruit slices, pork tenderloin, and a piece of cranberry blueberry muffin were our non-chocolate samples for today. Because their homemade guacamole is loaded with onions we walked on by.
Since it's an all weekend event, I just might go back tomorrow for another chocolate fix!
