Maybe it was in 1992-3, Talana, my sister, had a co-worker from Russia. She was asking Talana about what cosmetics were good and such. I don't know who heard about this book, but Talana told me about "Don't Go to the Cosmetic Counter Without Me" by Paula Begoun. It's based on the author's opinion from reading cosmetic research. Basically we don't need those expensive cosmetics, and she also talks about what's in the cosmetics, enlightening indeed. You know I have already blogged about how two of my friends' dermotologists feel about department store cosmetics.
One thing that stuck with me from that book all these years, for face scrub you can use baking soda. So when I don't feel like paying for high priced scrubs, I keep some baking soda in a container in the shower. Usually on Thursday mornings, I put some facial cleanser in the palm of my hand then sprinkle/mix some baking soda in with the cleanser, and away I clean/scrub. Another way, you could clean your face first, then get the baking soda out and do your facial scrub.
Looks like the book is still around, now in it's 7th edition.:
