Breast cancer, you see, runs on my maternal side. So years ago I decided to stop using Deodorant and Anti-Perspirant combination because they contain aluminum. It's aluminum that makes it an Anti-Perspirant. Now some studies show there is a connection between alum and breast cancer and others don't. My big issue with studies is you don't know who paid for the study. Could have been the anti-p companies paid for a study that somehow the results say there is no link. Well I don't have a perspiring issue so alum was not a necessary ingredient for me.
I tried almost every deodorant from the health food store. Needless to say none of them worked for me. I don't have a bad odor problem, but I swear some of those products made me have an odor problem. One day I came across adidias cotton-tech deo for women 100% aluminum free. Tried it and loved it. The Walmart where I used to buy it closed this month after 13 years. No worries the brand new Super Walmart which opened in another location will have it. I'll just swing by there and get some. Uh, wait there was no adidas cotton-tech deo for women...Ok, now I'm sweating (smile).
So I hopped on the internet highway. Amazon.com showed the one I like as "currently unavailable". One thing I really like about amazon.com is reading the reviews. In cruising the net more I saw that Coty makes this product. So I got on their website http://www.coty.com/, and emailed them my concern of locating my deo. I also emailed my good friend, Patti, asking her if maybe she could check her Walmart next visit. Maybe they would still have some in stock. Asked her to buy 10 of them.
In the meantime I got a quick response back the next day from Coty. They had re-designed and re-packaged it. The rep gave me a couple of stores that should stock it. She also gave me a drugstore website, but I didn't want to order this until I saw with my own eyes with product in hand that it had no alum. Two CVSs didn't carry it. We don't have Kmarts 'round here anymore. I had also checked Super Target, just in case. Nope. She also mentioned Bed Bath and Beyond. I had forgotten they have had a drugstore type area for maybe a year now. SCORE!! I bought two of them at $3.79 each AND even got to use my two 20% off coupons for each one.
