Earlier this month Marcia Upson, a Family Nurse Practitioner in Garland who helped developed Naturally Slim http://www.naturallyslim.com/, came to speak recently at work during a one hour seminar. She brought our to attention yet again how big food servings here in America have gotten since we were kids. She showed us how a dinner plate from our childhood is now the salad plate while the dinner plates are huge. And of course you want to fill up that big ol' dinner plate when you get your food.
When I lived in FL in 2000-2001 I started buying Fiesta http://www.homerlaughlin.com/ffd/home.asp dishes. I went to some store sort of like Bed Bath and Beyond, and they always had a weekly coupon. So I don't think I paid full price for my 4 piece settings. Later I realized I just didn't like the mugs that came with the sets. The size of the mug was good but the handle was a tiny circle. Way tooo cumbersome to hold a hot beverage. So I ended finding those good homes.
Well I got home after the seminar and measured my dinner plate...10.5 inches! Then I got on the net and learned that the Fiesta Luncheon Plate is 9 inches. So I recently went out and bought 8 luncheon plates that I will use instead of the dinner plates. I want one more lunch plate, but am not crazy about 4 of the colors Fiesta has out now. Macy's had the best selection of lunch plate colors, while Dillard's had the chocolate brown.
Fiesta retired colors, so it's fine with me that I have some lunch plates of which I don't have a bowl or saucer to match!
